Artist's Inspiration:

Heavy Laden

It is not the weight of the stone but what it represents that is heavy on this man's mind. The 16 lb shot represents our own personal worry stone. It is the burden that each of us carry and are not willing to put in God's hands. We feel a sense of control while we hold it. It may start out the size of a pea. Sooner or later it will be too large to carry. The large stone he is standing on represents how unreleased burdens grow in size rather than get smaller or resolved. "Come to me (Jesus) all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
